If history is your thing, this fort rocks it. Tons of information, places to explore, and things to see. Bring water and a hat, there is little shade and it's kinda hot.

Beautiful trails, scenic views of the Potomac River and Virginia. Not to mention the beautiful, historic fort that sits upon the hill here. Visiting is a must.

Star-Spangled Site: American forces blew up the fort here, which was also called Fort Warburton on Aug 26, 1814, to prevent its capture by Royal Navy Warships on the Potomac.
