The first monument built in the UK after the battle of Trafalgar. Still used to signal to ships at sea when it is 1pm.

this building housed a clock as did did edinburgh castle when the ball at the top reached the bottom it was 1pm and time to fire the gun so ships in the forth knew the time and set there clocks
