팔공산 갓바위
팔공산의 남쪽 봉우리 관봉(冠峰) 정상에 자리하고 있는 통일신라시대의 석불 좌상으로서, 전체 높이는 4m에 이른다. 관봉이 곧 우리말로 '갓바위'이므로 흔히 '갓바위부처님'이라고 부른다. 또 머리에 마치 갓같은 판석(板石)이 올려져 있기에 그렇게도 부른다. 절에 전하는 바로는 의현대사(義玄大師)가 어머니의 명복을 빌기 위하여 638년에 조성한 것이라 한다. 그러나 전체적 양식으로 보아 8~9세기 작품으로 보이는 것이 일반적인 정설이다. 현재 보물 제 431호로 지정되어 있다.
