The Netherlands – the country of flowers and open minds

One could talk about this country for hours on end! Most people from all over the world come here for all kinds of tourism, be it educational, cultural, eco-, bicycle-, sex- and even – let's face it – drug tourism.

This small country full of plains and canals has something to offer even for its most demanding guests.First of all, everybody is set to visit the country's capital, Amsterdam. Among local landmarks are the Van Gogh Museum, the Rijksmuseum art museum, the Anne Frank's house, the Rembrandt House Museum, and the famous Red Light District. Also, there are more 1500 bridges in Amsterdam, that's why this bridge is so attractive for romantic people. In Amsterdam, it's also easy to find the world-renowned coffee shops: there is a total of 200 of these in the city.Other popular places in the Netherlands are the Hague, Madurodam, Rotterdam, Delft, and Maastricht. Any country guide will offer to enjoy the famous tulips of Keukenhof Garden and visit the windmills of Zaanse or Kinderdijk. By the way, even today there are thousands of mills still standing in the Netherlands, which were originally used for fields drainage. Now they are a part of the UNESCO World Heritage List. Also in the Netherlands are 19 large parks, the most visited being Hoge Veluwe, De Loonse, and De Biesbosch.Traveling around the “birthplace” of windmills, tulips and Edam cheese is better done by bicycles or public transport – trams or buses.
