Estonia – a fairytale come true

This country looks as if some pictures from fairy-tales about knights suddenly became real.

Here, you can not only see but also visit a real castle on a hill, walk on a medieval pavement and even go to a tavern, where you still have to eat in the dark and with your bare hands!r \Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, is always popular with tourists. The country guide will surely lead you to the heart of the city – The Town Hall Square, full of life 24/7. In winter, the Christmas trees are decorated, and in summer, numerous cafes open their doors to all customers. By the way, it's exactly the place where the aforementioned «dark» tavern is located. It is said that even the plates and recipes in this tavern are straight from the Middle Ages, though you can't say the same about the cutlery: you won't be able to find a single spoon on the premises. If you look at the map of the city, you can notice that Tallinn is separated into The Lower Town and The Upper Town. You should get to know them both by visiting the most popular places: the TV tower 314 meters high; St. Mary's Cathedral; St. Olaf’s Church, a Gothic church which in the 16th century was considered the highest in the world – and finally, Great Coastal Gate and Fat Margaret, a funnily named cannon tower. Interestingly, the contemporary Parliament of Estonia is located in a real castle on top of Toompea Hill. The castle was built for the Teutonic Order's knights in the 13th-14th centuries.Other landmarks of Estonia include the resort town Pärnu, the cultural center Tartu, Saaremaa Island, the Narva Castle, and Värska and Laulasmaa spas. You can go to these places via public transport – more precisely, buses.
