Sitting rather uncomfortably amid all the concrete is St Giles’ without Cripplegate, one of the few medieval churches left in the City of London (it managed to survive the Great Fire of 1666).

Nice acoustics for chamber concerts and often used by Radio3 for live broadcasts

A quiet, unexpected and stark church in the middle of the Barbican estate. Worth seeing for the grave and statue of John Milton.

"Surviving both the great fire and the second world war, St Giles' Cripplegate is in the heart of the complex and is another calm spot in the city..."
