I think it's one of those places that looks better in photos (especially from above) than in person. There are more complete castles to be seen elsewhere...

The original site of the city of Salisbury. Worth paying the entrance fee to see the remains of the castle and cathedral.

Take the little trail on the left around the outer wall for a more off the beaten road experience and great views. The end leads up to the site of the old cathedral.

Compared to other amazing national landmarks, there's unfortunately not enough to see for English Heritage to request an entrance fee. Might be more successful to accept donations instead.

Beautiful place to walk dogs. Stunning views and lots of different walks. Children will love this natural adventure playground!!!!
