Skip the Visitors Center and instead park in P3 just up the road. It’s a short 20-minute hike to Öxarárfoss waterfall inside the “rift”

Not the most breathtaking sight in Iceland but nothing you can simply skip. The continental drift is very impressive to see, even without the dive. And don’t miss the Althing spot next to the church.

It's a quite nice walk along a river with some nice waterfalls. We walked for a couple of miles, but there was much more. Definitely worth a stop.
